The rise of Chinese multinationals in Europe has been somewhat exaggerated in the media. Chinese investment in Europe is still relatively insignificant whether in terms of China's total outward investment or in terms of total inward FDI flows to the EU. This project aims to set the record straight, to explore the different characteristics of large Chinese FDI in various European economies and to shed light on the decision-making process of Chinese investment in Europe.
